Updated 10-14-2025
The first version of DerbyData has been deployed at iwantmorederby.com! Back in the original Michi-chan era, DerbyData was the go to place to follow the placings of the home teams at AZDD, AZRD and Tucson Roller Derby. It was also the home of the Arizona Power Rankings, which was used to track the home teams of those various flat track leagues and provide a combined ranking, despite AZDD using a different rule set.
At this time, we have deployed only the functionality that supports the historical data. We have the infrastructure in place to be able to track standings. At this time, only one league (AZDD) has a true championship structure that follows the traditional methods.
For more modern day events, we will track the history of Arizona-based home teams (such as those at AZDD and AZRD) as well as the interleague events that involve an Arizona-based team, regardless of whether the two teams are intra-state or interstate.
The data entry process of older events may take some time, so please be patient. Please visit DerbyData periodically for updates.
Data Notes
Legacy Michi-chan RollerSports Productions (MCRSP) Data
A data file has been recovered. This data file includes many intra-state scores from 2006 through 2011. This data file was originally used in conjunction to the former Arizona Power Rankings. We will be adding this data in manually. It includes data from AZDD, AZRD, TRD, Desert Dolls, NAZRD and Dirty Verde.
Obtaining data
Any data that was not already documented by MCRSP will be obtained through social media posts, archived news stories on websites and watching a lot of old YouTube videos. As a last resort, we will use data from FlatTrackStats.com to fill in any holes. For each bout, the listing will indicate the newsgathering method or attribution for the data.
Interleague Bouts
The data for DerbyData is taken from the Michi-chan Sports (MCS) master database. This database was designed for multiple disciplines (i.e. roller derby, banked track roller derby, Banana Ball, etc.). The structure of the database assigns a "league" and a "season" for each event. Internally, when we add a bout that involves teams from two different leagues, we will assign it to a psuedo-league that is specifically designed to take teams from more than one league. As a part of the enhancements made to the MCS database, we now have the ability to assign up to two "alternate leagues". These alternate leagues allow these bouts to show on the record for the respective league that is playing. For example, if AZRD plays a team from TRD, then we will show the bout in both the AZRD and the TRD listings. This includes games played outside of Arizona between an Arizona-based travel team and an out of state team. Bouts do not need to be sanctioned by WFTDA, USARS, etc. in order to be listed in this manner.
Interleague bouts will be listed in the respective league's "season". For "off season" bouts that are played after the season is over, they will be listed with the last season played at the time.
About "Seasons"
One of our hierarchies in the database is a "season". Seasons are normally the time during a specific year where the league is engaging in competitive events. When a league is engaged in a championship structure (such as today's AZDD), each season will be based around that period. Some leagues were short-lived and have played very few games, it would be more efficient to include all of their activity into a single "season". We will designate those seasons as "Full History". Access the Full History of a league to see what all we have for them.
League Notes
Arizona Derby Dames
Season 1 data needed
Even back in the original Michi-chan era, we were never successful in obtaining any data regarding results from Season 1 of the league. We are desperately seeking this score data as it will fill a significant hole in our history of AZDD. Unfortunately, AZDD's flat track seasons (Seasons 1~5) were never added to (or have been removed from) the FlatTrack Stats website.
Arizona Roller Derby
Season 4
We only have three season 4 bouts from January 2007, forward. Not even Flat Track Stats seems to have any details on the 2006 portion of Season 4. If anyone has information, please contact the Michi.
Brawlarinas and Desert Phantoms
The Brawlarinas was a home team for AZRD that started in Season 4. Starting in Season 16 (2019), the Brawlarinas became the Desert Phantoms. For the purpose of DerbyData, we will be entering data for the Brawlarinas and the Desert Phantoms as two separate teams. The Desert Phantoms would disband as a result of the circumstances of the 2020 Crud.
Guadylupes and Valley Rollers
The Guadaylupes was an expansion home team for AZRD that started in 2010. Like with the Brawlarinas, starting in Season 16, they would become the Valley Rollers. Like with the Desert Phantoms, the team would disappear as a result of the Crud. Like with the Brawlaz/Desert Phantoms, DerbyData considers these as two separate teams for tracking purposes.
Phoenix City Rollers
In 2008, several members of AZRD, primarily from the home team The Bruisers split away from the league to start their own team. This team also used the name Bruisers. This caused a serious name dispute at the time. The league would eventually change their name to the Phoenix City Rollers before folding shortly afterwards. During the time there were two Bruisers teams, we distinguished them by calling them the "AZRD Bruisers" (for AZRD's use of Bruisers) and the "Arizona Bruisers" (for PCR's use of Bruisers). Bouts will be categorized in DerbyData under the PCR league name.
Phoenix Roller Derby
Desert Dolls Roller Derby
Phoenix Roller Derby originally started under the name Desert Dolls Roller Derby (DDRD). It had three, and then eventually four home teams. On October 31, 2022, the league announced that they would change their name to Phoenix Roller Derby (PHXRD) in order to be more gender inclusive and to better identify with the area. For the purposes of DerbyData, we will be entering data for DDRD and PHXRD as two separate leagues.
