HEY ARIZONA DERBY FANS!!!!!
We have been doing pretty good this year with the predictions. Let's do some for the rest of this month in Arizona derby!!
TONIGHT - TUCSON ROLLER DERBY
IRON CURTAIN VS. VICE SQUAD - 2 pretty equal teams but I was very impressed with the IC at the last bout and I think they will have a slight edge. IRON CURTAIN BY LESS THAN 10 in a medium scoring (50-80) game.
FTW VS. COPPER QUEENS - My first live experience with the 'Waitresses and I think the "W" in FTW should stand for WOW! The jammer tag team of Peaches and Flo took my 40 point prediction to almost 50 two weeks ago. Meanwhile, the Copper Queens are showing that they ARE the force to be reckoned with this year. However, I did miss Cheap Ore on skates even though Dirty Teri did a great job helping the Queens get their first victory. Now take these two powerhouses and put it together and feel the ground shaking so hard the folks at the Sonic up the road will be diving for under the tables. I do feel that between the two teams, the FTW definitely have a good mix where Flo has the speed and Peaches has the agility and they both know exactly when to call it off, but I do need to show some confidence in my Copper Queens. I will have to say:
If Cheap Ore is skating: FTW BY 15 POINTS
If Cheap Ore is not skating: FTW BY 25 POINTS
MARCH 29 - ARIZONA ROLLER DERBY
AZRD BRUISERS VS. SURLY GURLIES - AZRD just recently had their draft. One of my favorite former Smasher skaters who was once at the Dames will be skating for the Bruisers plus another one of my favorite Brawlas looks like they will be subbing on the Bruisers (I am not saying who.. you will have to go to the bout.) I am not sure what the Surly roster looks like right now but hopefully they now have more than "8 is great". Where the Surlys have an advantage with more experienced AZRD skaters, the Bruisers make up with hopefully a bigger roster, Trish & Ivanna and other skaters that I have the insides on. I hate to say it, but this was definitely not the year for the Surlys and I won't be able to give them this one. BRUISERS BY 15 and hopefully a higher scoring game as the white-and-red may need the points in case my Brawlas beat the Beaters lose in their next bout.
MARCH 29 - ARIZONA DERBY DAMES
SCHOOL YARD SCRAPPERS VS. COFFIN DRAGGERS - Scrappers show now that they can score a lot of points, but against the current Bombshells, I can understand that. Now they have a bigger force to contend with, the Coffin Draggers. A team that already has a short pre-draft roster will be skating shorter since Dolly will be out for this bout but that should only encourage the Draggers to kick up the steam a bit more and take some of the old tricks from the Homewrecker/Thrash days out of the bag. The good Dr. (Mary Lu Botomy) will be working double shifts to keep up with this freshly aggressive Scrapper team who may still be geeked up after the bomb dropped on the Bombshells earlier this month. Where is Forbid N. Fruit when we need her the most? When I was in Tucson to weeks ago, I saw a bout with two jammers who pretty much rotated the entire bout and they won by 49 points. Not sure if the Coffin Draggers will be able to achieve that but I think they will give the Scrappers a run for their money. But for the Scrappers, need I say Rowdy and Chuck? These are two DD veterans and they have all of the tricks and as long as Oliver and Howie are focused elsewhere, it's open season on zombies. I think this is going to be a game very heavy on defense where the blockers and pivots will play a major role in the outcome. I think the Draggers will answer the Scrappers' points but not all of them... SCRAPPERS BY 15 in a medium scoring game.
RUNAWAY BRIDES VS. BOMBSHELLS - Now the Bombshells got trampled by the Scrappers for the first Scrapper win, EVER. Now, I would normally say that the Scrappers beating the 'Shells was in the bag, but what was not expected was that the Plaid beat them by 121 points! Now, the Bombshells are in for another treat. This time, we go from naughty schoolgirls to uncooperative brides but let me tell you.. these brides are NASTY. Ann Thrash, Dirty Martini, Dee Tox, Stiletto Wheels and my future derby wife, Jacked Hart... NEED I SAY ANY MORE????? The Bombshells definitely need to prepare for this. Dharma Sutra may be back to help in the blocking department but it's all about jamming jamming jamming and making sure your jammer avoids Thrash at all costs. Can the 'Shells live up to the test or will the honeymoon for our debutante brides prove to be successful? Sorry Dharma and RMR. I love you both but I am saying BRIDES BY 30.
DERBY FANS.. ARE YOU READY???
