According to information received from multiple sources and then confirmed today by a MySpace bulletin, Arizona Derby Dames (AZDD) founder and Coffin Draggers team captain Suzy Homewrecker has announced that she will no longer actively skate for the league after the January 26 demo bout.
Suzy cites that her current work schedule does not permit her to continue skating for the league. Suzy has also obtained some art space in Downtown Phoenix where she will work on her Homewrecker creative work.
Homewrecker will remain involved with AZDD as she was one of the founders. Prior to starting AZDD, Suzy skated with Arizona Roller Derby (AZRD) and prior to that with Lonestar Rollergirls (TXRD).
AZDD has not yet announced who the new captain of the Coffin Draggers will be. Suzy has mentioned in her blog that she will remain as the Team Manager of the Coffin Draggers.
The AZDR wishes Suzy the best of luck on all of her future ventures.
AZDD has a "demo bout" on January 26 which will include a "mini elimination tournament" with all 5 teams skating 10 minute periods in 4 bouts. The bout will be held at Castle Sports Club. Doors open at 7PM and the bout starts at 8PM. For this event, a special admission price of $5 will apply.
